Yes, the working out of one's salvation will undoubtedly strengthen one's experimental perception of assurance. As I wrote in my reply to li0scc0, when a person is living in a sin or has committed a sin, particularly a grievous one, God is most always felt to be "far away" and the guilt that accompanies sin diminishes much of the assurance that one might have had previously. David, in his Psalms speaks of his own experience in this area and expressed his lament not only over his sin(s) but also his lack of communion with God. (cf. Ps 51; 1Jh 1:5-7) In His Grace,
