I just wanted to give you a word of encouragement, just having gotten out of high school this last spring, I too know that school can be quite "eye opening" sometimes. I wish I could say college is better, really, sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't, that just reflects the society we're living in.

I for one determined from the first day on that I wasn't going to go to dances in high school and in fact, aside from the academic olympic events my first three years and a sports event (volleyball) my freshman year and (basketball) my senior year (both supporting members of my church), I didn't go to any of my school's extraciricular events. With some people this hurt and with some people this helped my witness. I've never been a soul winner, but I know that despite that, my example still had a positive affect on students around me and I can honestly say that I depicted Christians different than most of the assumptions people around me had about Christianity.
While I would never discourage zeal, I would encourage you to think about how that zeal will be interpreted, I know that my freshman year I was zealous like none other and that haunted me for some time during my upper classman years. On the flip side, I wasn't very zealous my upperclassman years b/c I was experienceing turbulance and had lost some of my zeal for the word due to my (then opposition) to calvinism which was just first being preached to me at that time.
All that being said though, Don't be afraid to experience high school events, just don't take part in sin, obey your conscience and convictions. Your school needs Christians who are about Christ and who know what they're talking about, continue in the Lord, walk well and keep an eye on your actions and attitudes. From the sound of it, you've got a lot of potential to affect your school for Christ.

God bless you brother, and keep you in all the dark places you may walk.

-Brother Luke
