Personally, I don't use a devotional. My practice is to read the Scriptures, usually 1, 2 or 3 chapters and then pick a portion of what I have read to study, meditate on and then apply it for the day. I also try to memorize a verse or passage which really is impressed upon my soul. For those who aren't in the habit of reading through Scripture, you might consider using something like M'Cheyne's Daily Bible Reading Calendar.
